Twitch is always striving to find new ways to enhance the chat experience for both the broadcaster and their respective communities.
Today they further enhanced the chat experience by introducing followers-only mode. Followers-Only Mode restricts chat to only include viewers who have followed you for a specific amount of time. For instance, if you set Followers-Only to five minutes, in order to chat a viewer must have been following you for that long.
Twitch ran an experiment to look at the results of Follower-Only mode and found that moderator actions sharply decreased, followers increased, and there was no measurable change in viewership.
