Twitch Provides Scholarships for Two Students Majoring in Computer Science to Attend GHC 2016

Twitch announced that they are a gold-level sponsor for the Grace Hopper Celebration. The Grace Hopper Celebration is a series of conferences that promote diversity and the advancement of women’s role in technology.

“Not only will Twitch have a booth at the career fair (#2307, come say hello!), but two of Twitch executives will also be leading discussions on the accomplishments of women engineers at Twitch and educating attendees on computing practices.” Twitch staff members Sharmeen Browarek and Sophia Xiao will both be speaking at the event. “Twitch has also provided scholarships to two students majoring in Computer Science to attend the conference — Lee Ames from New Hampshire Technical Institute and Lorraine Yerger from the University of Central Florida. Both recipients were selected from a pool of thousands of applicants by Anita Borg Institute, organizer of GHC 2016.”

The event will be held October 19-21 at the George R. Brown Convention Center in Houston, TX. If you can’t catch the keynotes in person, the GHC will be streaming Wednesday and Friday’s keynotes on Livestream.
