Twitch has opened up the Cheering Beta across the US, UK, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, and most of Europe.
Now that the expansion is out of the way, they are adding a new functionality, Cheer without spending.
Community members in the US can watch a 30-second interactive ad to obtain free Bits to Cheer their favorite broadcaster!
Click “Get Bits” and select “Watch Ad.” You can watch a 30-second ad, or occasionally be asked to complete a survey to receive Bits. Most users will receive 5 Bits, sometimes more, with it extending to 100 Bits.
There are limitations to the number of ads you can watch per day to get Bits. The feature rolled out with a small subset of viewers, then will start rolling out more widely across the US in the next few weeks.
Right now the “Cheer without Spending” is only available to US viewers, they can use Bits in any channel that has Cheering enabled, regardless of location. A small amount of viewers will be able to access the feature, with more rolling out widely across the US in the coming weeks.
Twitch will be closely monitoring its success, listening to feedback and looking for ways to improve and expand to more users in the future.
