Buy Games on Twitch and Support Streamers With The New Twitch Crates System

Ended soon

Twitch have unveiled a brand new ‘Twitch Crates’ system, which will allow viewers to purchase a game, earn rewards and help out their favorite streamer while doing so.

“Games or in-game items that cost $4.99 or more will earn you a shiny Twitch Crate, which includes randomly generated rewards like emotes, badges, and Bits for Cheering.” Through the system, even purchasing some undisclosed in-game items grants Twitch Crates, meaning that you can continue to earn loot even after your purchase with Twitch.

Twitch are starting “with about 50 titles”. These include “Ubisoft’s For Honor and Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon: Wildlands“, along with “The Walking Dead” and “Minecraft: Story Mode – a full list of the launch games can be found here. Twitch have also said that they will be adding more and more titles to the lineup, meaning that the shop will slowly build a numerous collection of titles fit for all genres and playstyles.

To add to this, purchasing a game or in-game content with Twitch will support your chosen Partnered streamer. “Twitch will share 5% of the purchase price with Partnered streamers that have opted into our commerce program when you buy from their channel page” – while ‘an offer to buy a game or in game content will appear on all streamer channel pages when a game is being played that is offered for sale by Twitch, only partnered streamers will be eligible to earn revenue through this program.”

If you’re a Partner, a guide on how to enable earning revenue from game sales can be found here.

To celebrate the launch of Twitch Crates, a US-only giveaway for streaming gear worth over $500 is being held – you can find all of the details here.
