A Deeper Look Into Twitch Prime & How it is Changing Twitch for the Better

With the release of Twitch Prime we’ve seen numerous changes in the community since the announcement. We decided to take a deeper look into Twitch Prime, why it is worth it and how it is changing Twitch for the better.

Free Digital Games and Game Loot:

Twitch Prime members will receive a consistently updated selection of free digital video games and in-game loot like skins, characters, and boosts from the most popular games on Twitch.

This is a cool add on to Twitch Prime. Many community members are very fond of in-game loot and skins. For the first month Twitch is offering the newest hero in Hearthstone from Blizzard Entertainment, Tyrande Whisperwind and a limited edition custom card back. October, members will get an exclusive Twitch Prime branded skin for Hi-Rez Studios’ action MOBA, SMITE; and a free copy of Streamline.

Premium Twitch + Monthly Twitch Channel Subscription:

This is one of the best features of Twitch Prime. We’ve been long time subscribers to Turbo and it was worth every penny. The original month Turbo subscription included ad-free Twitch viewing, custom emotes, special chat badges, and expanded chat colors. Not only do you get all that Twitch Prime members get a free Twitch Sub! We’ve seen broadcasters Tweet with excite how much their sub count has raised. Twitch is creating ways for Partnered Broadcasters to make more income.

Member Savings on New Release Games:

Prime members receive exclusive discounts on new-release physical games sold by Amazon during the pre-order period and for the first two weeks after launch.

Best Buy runs a similar program called Games Club Unlocked. It’s $30 for 2 years and you get similar benefits to what Twitch Prime offers. In my opinion if you’re already using Twitch Prime for everything else, why not user the discounts on new releases and being able to play games on their exact release date. Also, broadcasters who have Amazon Affiliate links will definitely benefit from this.

The main takeaway for me is that Twitch is creating many ways for Partnered Broadcasters to increase their income. If I was trying to get Partnered on Twitch, this would be a big incentive for me. Over time Twitch Prime will have a major impact on all broadcasters and it’s only the beginning.
